Calypso Cricket

For those who have had the good fortune to enjoy the festival that is cricket in the Caribbean, no other sporting sojourn will come close

Calypso Cricket is not just a sport; it is a passion and a celebration. It is also the definitive season for a party in the islands.

The cricket is the focus but the music and the movement is the reason.

The tour plan takes in 2 tests in Barbados and Trinidad. There will be a 15 day tour schedule and an add on tour of 7 days for those keen to see cricket in remote Guyana and spend more time in the Caribbean. We will visit some of the true gems of the West Indian cricketing world.

Global Drift will offer exciting choices for the days between the test matches. Options for golf, boat cruises and beach escapes can be taken up on the tour as desired. These tour options will be incorporated with your pre trip information pack.

Inclusions and Exclusions
Day 1 - Fri 6th April - arrive Barbados
Arrival day (no activities planned). We settle in for our stay in this beautiful location
Days 2-6 - Barbados - Kensington
Sir Garfield Sobers territory, the Kingston Ground makes for a parochial yet fun and interactive test venue. Worrell, Weekes and Walcott are the ghosts of glories past yet each series sees the emergence of a new champion. This is truly a fantastic cricket ground. Each day we transfer to the Kensington Ground for the First Test between Australia and the West Indies. The renovated venue is a sight to behold and the atmosphere is a huge part of the game. We are nearby the centre of Bridgetown so you can incorporate some exploration during these days at the cricket and we will stay behind after the match to enjoy the vibrant celebrations that spring up all over town. You may choose to take a day or two off and there will be plenty of options and suggestions such as hiring a car and circling Barbados on a day trip or relaxing at the beautiful west coast beaches. The choices are endless
Day 7 - Barbados
We have one free day scheduled for optional activities at the end of our stay. Soak up the sun and sand to cap off your visit to one of the jewels of the Caribbean
Day 8 - Barbados to Trinidad
A short flight today takes us to the land of Calypso and an island of contrasts. Pulsating life, exotic cultures and stunning nature. Discover mountain ranges with dense, impenetrable virgin forest and magnificent waterfalls. The true home of the Calypso culture with its blend of Caribbean, Indian and Spanish influences. This is Brian Lara country and cricket and life here exudes his flair
Day 9 - Trinidad - Queen’s Park Oval
A free day is scheduled to settle in and explore the culture and distinctive nature. There will be many options to choose from
Days 10-14 - Trinidad
We have daily transfers to the Queen’s Park Oval for the Second Test. This is the largest capacity ground in the West Indies and you can hear it when the first ball is bowled! It has hosted more tests than any other Caribbean ground and is one of the most picturesque in the world. Once again you can combine cricket with exploration and a day or two of relaxation. You will find it hard not to be drawn into the action on the field
Day 15 - depart Trinidad
You are free to depart today or why not combine your trip with our new and vastly different 1 week 3rd Test Match package at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana (see below)
GUYANA 3RD TEST ADD-ON OPTION - COST IS AUD$1400 PER PERSON FOR 7 DAY ADD-ON
Why not combine these 2 tours to complete your Calypso Cricket experience
Day 1 - Sun 22nd April - arrive Georgetown, Guyana
Today is arrival day and we settle in to our central accommodation preparing for the action of the next 5 days
Days 2-6 - Georgetown - Providence Stadium
We transfer daily to the Providence Stadium to see cricket South American style! A parochial and lively crowd this venue has seem glory and controversy. It is far removed from the tourism playgrounds further north and cricket is serious business. Very few get to see cricket in this more remote part of the world and the experience is wonderfully worthwhile. For an island somewhat removed from the glitz and glamour of the Caribbean culture Guyana has produced some of the game’s greatest. A long list includes Lloyd, Gibbs, Kallicharran and Kanhai. Today’s stars include the irrepressible Shivnarine Chanderpaul and former captain Ramnaresh Sarwan
Day 7 - dep Georgetown, Guyana
You are free to depart today on your onward international connection
